HPV (Human papilomavirus)

Cervical cancer is caused by the Human papilloma virus. Certain genotypes of this virus are more often associated with this problem.

The two most common types of HPV, type 16 and 18, cause 2/3 of all cervical cancers and many abnormal Pap smears.

The Real Time PCR test is intended for the qualitative detection of DNA of 14 high-risk types, as well as the identification and genotyping of the two main types, HPV 16 and HPV 18, from cervical samples.
